5/11/2023 0 Comments Jackson guitars made in japan![]() The import back in the day could have a selection of USA graphic finishes because Chushin had a semi-custom shop similar to the modern day Custom Select, as well as a line of TOTL Japanese-made Jackson with specs mirroring the USA equivalent. The factory only makes Jackson/Charvel (plus this one spin-off brand of superstrats), and for the local market they handle their own marketing, distribution and product line under the Grover Jackson/Jackson Stars branding, until 2008 when distribution right was given to Yamano Gakki (who's part of Fender Japan). Jackson (and Charvel) Japan were made by Chushin Gakki, which basically IS Jackson Japan. TL:DR: They're not more expensive, old Japanese Jackson are just too cheap to be sustainable for the business. Yes, you don't get a lot from the get go and mostly you're just paying for the brand, better quality control and Made in Japan production, which is killer to be honest. ![]() Their newer models and especially the Dave Davidson signature, which I had the privilege to play at a friends house, are extremely durable and reliable guitars. ![]() However, I do see where Jackson is coming from. I really need the stability of the tuning and the ergonomic playability that Strandberg and Carillion wanna be are offering with their specs, taking into the account that the Carillion one has an EverTune on it. Take into account that I record music on an almost daily basis, re-recording stuff, recording new riffs etc. Recently I've saved up enough money to buy a Strandberg Standard 8 and had a deal with a european luthier who custom made one Carillion wanna be model - and honestly, I've played those two guitars more frequently then Ibanez and Jackson. ![]() Maybe with some you'd pay and wait a bit more, but you'd also get more at the get go.įor example, I've owned two Ibanez Prestige models and one Jackson Pro series model. Sometimes I feel like you'd get a more decent bang for your buck by going with some other custom luthiers or smaller companies. I've often found these major guitar companies, like Jackson, Ibanez etc.
